Accomodation in the East

Everywhere in East Berlin there are constant reminders of the period of development under soviet rule. The most prominent reminder is the endless vista of tower blocks, some in states of very serious disrepair and others obviously recently refurbished but still remaining as tower blocks. My favourite were those that showed evidence of the people living inside, those with a little individual character - going against the ethos of the original soviet regime. This block I found by accident after taking the wrong tram in the wrong direction whilst trying to get some filming done. The little splashes of colour in an otherwise cold, white and grey landscape seem to speak for the people living inside.
